Book Project

The linocut used in the card is part of a greater project which I had for three years now: A list of some of the old testament prophecies which were fulfilled in the new testament by Jesus. The original idea was to do it caligraphically with illuminations but when I got the printing press I decided to have a go at this.

So the text are the prophecies from the OT and the illustrations show the fullfillment in the new testament.

For the typeface I am using the Old English 26pt (it's the closest I could get to textura script). The woodcuts are replicas of real woodcuts from diverse medieval books. On another post I will explain the process I use to transfer them to the lino.

St. Mary Press Grand Opening

The opening event of the St. Mary press happened on a cold winter evening in 2006. Mick Stocks, Martin Andrews, Eric Kindel, Rathna Ramanathan Heliana Pacheco and Jose de Souza from the Department of Typography and Graphic Communications of the University of Reading were present. David Lewis, Lia Monica and Flavia Santa-Maria also were present.

All guests had a go at the small Adana and printed a souvenir which they took home.
